The Metropolitan Museum of Art Celebrates 151th Anniversary of Its Establishment

The Metropolitan Museum of Art, one of the few museums in the world, celebrates the 151st anniversary of its establishment.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art, located in the state of New York of the United States, celebrates its 151st anniversary.

Located next to Central Park in New York, the museum is one of the oldest museums in the world. The Metropolitan Museum of Art contains artifacts from the ancient eastern, Egyptian, Greek, and Roman periods. The museum also displays the European medieval collection.

The New York State Legislature approved the establishment of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1870, which was created by a collective of businessmen, thinkers, and artists of the time to popularize art for the American people and facilitate access to artworks for Americans.

The museum, which grew in a year, moved to a mansion in another part of the city. Finally, in 1880, the Metropolitan Museum of Art moved to its current location, part of the “Museum Mile” on Fifth Avenue.
